Walk Leader bios: Pastor Mike Neal

IMG_20150416_111227Pastor Michael L. Neal is a native Chicagoan, born and raised on the South Side. He is the youngest of three children.

Pastor Neal studied at Moody Bible Institute, and served as an associate minister at Salem Baptist Church of Chicago. He launched Glorious Light Church in Bronzeville in July 2008.  The picture above shows Pastor Neal on the right, with the artist Milton Mizenburg.

Pastor Neal is very active in Bronzeville, where he and The Glorious Light Church have launched a Real Men Read program at several grammar schools in the area. He serves as a voting member of the Bronzeville Community Action Council. Under his direction, a new community development corporation, the Timothy Community Corporation, has been founded, which operates out of the former Florence B. Price School, a shuttered CPS school.

He also serves as a parent representative on the local school council of Kenwood Community Academy High School. He has developed significant partnerships with various community based organizations in the area.

He has been married to Deloris A. Neal for twenty years and they have two daughters, Courtney Michelle and Camille Dominique.

Pastor Neal will be leading a Walk of Bronzeville on Saturday, May 2nd at 2PM, which will include a visit to the artist Milton Mizenburg’s outdoor art museum, part of which is shown below.
