#Jane’s Walk #Pub Crawl in CHICAGO


As mentioned previously, there will be a Jane’s Walk Pub Crawl in Jane Jacobs’ honor on Friday evening. Here’s the route:

Stop #1: Cavanaugh’s5:00 – 5:30 – in the Monadnock Building (53 West Jackson) – Have a drink in the building that served as prototype for elevator and cast aluminum technologies showcased in the 1893 World’s Columbian Exhibition. Pabst’s won its blue ribbon at the 1893 fair, too!

Walk: 1/4 mile of historic South Loop

Stop #2: Hackneys (Dearborn and Polk) –  5:45 – 6:15– celebrate Chicago’s first school of architecture and the buildings (and train station) that housed an early twentieth century publishing empire.

Walk: 1/2 mile of historic Michigan and Wabash – Understand the impact of Burnham and Bennett’s master plan, the current state of Congress Parkway and the city’s love of Grant Park

Stop #3: Miller’s Pub (134 South Wabash) – 7:00 – 7:30 – a Chicago institution frequented by celebrities for decades.

Walk: 1/2 mile State and Dearborn

Stop #4: Berghoff (17 West Adams) – 7:45 – 8:15 – Finish the evening in an unquestionable Chicago landmark. Rest your feet, catch a quick drink or late dinner. Beautiful art glass and murals depict historic Chicago and the World’s Fair.  Walk officially done 8:15.
