Chicago Architecture Biennial update: Friends of Downtown

Last week, we had about 40 people join us on two Biennial Jane’s Walks led by Rolf Achilles, “The Art of Local Architecture on Dearborn Street from Van Buren to Randolph.”

Tomorrow evening, October 14th, we’ll be presenting our final Biennial event, 35 years of Friends of Downtown: What Have We Achieved, and What’s Left?

In addition to the previously announced speaker line-up of Norm Elkin, Mary Jo Graf and Mary Ludgin, we’re pleased to announce that Larry Lund will be joining the panel as well.

We’ll start with drinks (cash bar) from 5:30 to 6pm, with the program from 6 to 7pm. The program is free but space is limited and reservations are requested. After the Program the Club will be serving a $25 Buffet Dinner at 7:15 pm (advance reservations required for dinner – credit cards accepted). Reservations for the panel and for dinner may be made by e-mail to:

Given how Friends of Downtown has contributed to the evolution of downtown Chicago community-building, I thought this article was very timely…

We hope you’ll be a friend of Downtown, attend tomorrow night, and join us in the “virtuous cycle of placemaking”!
