Better late than never, I’m delighted to report that the 5th edition of Jane’s Walk Chicago in May was a big success. Well over 400 people turned out for 27 walks. The photos included here show a few of them.
Do you have some photos of Jane’s Walks to send us? We’d love to get them.
A brief summary of our 2017 Jane’s Walk Chicago survey results:
92% of respondents:
- would love to do this next year and recommend it to friends;
- found their walk leaders very engaging/engaging;
- believed their walk leaders were very knowledgeable/knowledgeable
We had some new partners in organizing the Walks this year, and I’d particularly like to thank Friends of the Parks’ Executive Director Juanita Irizarry and her staff and contacts for bringing new walks into the mix and for their co-promotion of these walks.
When asked how they’d learned about Jane’s Walk Chicago, respondents to our survey most frequently selected word of mouth (34%), social media (31%) and emailed newsletter (22%). So to cover all the social media angles… we created a Jane’s Walk Chicago Facebook page
As this project is a 100% volunteer-driven project, we simply could not do this without the individual walk leaders — the architects and designers of their walks, the volunteers who pitched in to help the 2017 Jane’s Walk Chicago be such a great success, especially Julia Bachrach, Tim Samuelson, Ray Johnson and Lauren Umek for their extraordinary Flashlight Tour of Jackson Park…. and of course, the wonderful walk participants who contribute their enthusiasm, interest, and questions as well as their time to transform these walks into walking conversations.
That’s the goal. While we may not hit it 100%, we aim to, and would always be delighted to hear your suggestions and ideas. Thank you, and stay tuned!
